This is How Moi Gets Her Sleek Do~
August 31, 2008
Long, gorgeous hair is what women and men long for. I’m not going to lie it’s my crowning glory. Glamour is my look! While nature may bless you with a bountiful coif, sometimes even nature needs a little help. That’s where Victoria’s Secret “So Sexy” Smoothing Shine Serum comes in. I can’t live without this stuff. I was reeled in, long ago, as I browsed through Victoria’s Secret one day checking out their cosmetics line. I passed a display of the “So Sexy” hair care line and the intoxicating aroma grabbed my attention and called me back. I am a scent lusty, hair-obsessed woman with long, slightly wavy, fine textured hair. I wanted something to smooth out the frizz and add some sexy shine to my locks and on a daily basis without product build up. Basically, I was asking for a product that didn’t exist. Yet, I picked up the test bottle of “So Sexy” Smoothing Shine Serum and gave the pump a squeeze. The serum felt silky with one hell of a sexy scent. I worked it through my hair, from the ends, up to an inch before the scalp, finishing with a final pass over the top layer, for good measure. Even without a brush, it seemed to calm down my hair. The Smoothing Shine Serum bottle cites silk protein as a key element. It adds softness, like a leave-in conditioner, without being heavy or greasy. It reins in the unsightly fly-aways, tames the frizz, and still leaves my hair feeling light and natural. The shine is remarkable. The scent is inviting. I use it everyday and my hair holds up until each shampoo wash, I love this stuff. I don’t go on a date without it!

Brooms To Make Cinderella Jealous!
August 23, 2008

If your going to be scrubbing your hardwood floors or sweeping the kitchen tile, you might as well look cute doing it, although the word fun and chores do not belong in the same sentence. That was until I came across this household product brand. Leave it to an Italian woman to make cleaning fun! Casa Moda from Italy lets you choose a broom like a fashion accessory! They raised the bar and took ordinary home cleaning essentials to a whole new dimension. Their brooms especially are so cute that you’ll be happy to leave it lying around for everyone to see. Their print lineup include flowers, butterflies, tropical fishes, and cartoons. Not enough animal for you? The zebra, python, and gold cheetah prints provides a welcome departure from the regular, run-of-the-mill brooms and they are designed to be both useful and practical. The soft nylon bristles clean effectively, but are gentle enough for use on any floor surface, including outdoors. Fall 2008 will include brooms in lady bug and pink cheetah patterns! Time to give my cleaning lady an extra day off this week!

Strike A Pose!
August 16, 2008
To UK locals, this is not new. To the US, its a new site that just launched! I wish I had came across this website before the headache I went through to get a child passport and photo under the age of 10. I almost thought as I stood in that ridiculous long line at the post office that I was participating in a Freddy Kruger sequel, “Nightmare on Sand Canyon Street.” For all the parents out there that read this, get ready to check get my child’s passport off your to-do list. Paspic.com is an online source that lets you skip the screaming and wining at the photo studio or post office and let you play *I was photographed by Steven Meisel* at home. You snap a great pose, upload it, and receive a passport ready print in just a few days for $7.00 and postage is free. Quick, secure and convenient, this service offers the reassurance that the passport photo will be accepted by the US Passport Services Office without the hassle. No more caught off guard pictures that the post office takes and they do not accept do overs! I tried to explain to the attendant that my child is stuck with this hideous shot until he is twelve! Next! she yelled! Photography is just not what it used to be.

Asphalt Groovin

It’s my trademark. I’m a creature of habit. I have a pattern in my taste of music. I tend to pick tunes that remind me of sitting in a lounge in the city and sipping on a cosmopolitan. I rotate between DJ mixed tunes from international artists to scores and themes from top HBO hits such as The Sex in The City “remix” version to Ocean’s Eleven soundtrack. Movie soundtracks are my all time love as I am introduced to a variety of tunes that I would not have come across otherwise. Which brings me to my ongoing addiction ..the soundtrack to the movie Sideways which is in heavy rotation in my home, car, and dinner parties! Sideways is the story of Miles (Paul Giamatti), a failed novelist, and his about to be married friend Jack (Thomas Haden Church), a washed up actor. To salute to Jack, they take a road trip before the. A serious wine enthusiast, Miles is determined to educate Jack on the region’s beloved Pino Noir, but Jack is more interested in living his bachelorhood to the hilt. The music is light and refreshing like a glass of chardonnay and it lifts my spirits. It is well crafted, moves briskly along, always keeping your interest, and is simply an enjoyable listening experience. So sniff it, sip it, gulp it, whatever – Sideways is a rare find for a music soundtrack!

Divorced from Technology …& Loving It!
August 2, 2008
This past week has been nothing but technology drama for Moi! My old MAC crashed and I lost a year’s worth of my life. I sat at the Irvine Spectrum Apple Bar and watched as the technician stuffed my old hard drive in a used cardboard box to be shipped back to Apple’s headquarters for recycling. Then the light bulb went off ..didn’t I purchase some black box to save my pictures, writings, etc in the event of another PC failure. That’s right I did! Needless to say, that black box or otherwise known as an external hard drive was stuffed away in my home office. When I arrived home with my fresh MAC in hand, I pulled the hard drive out of hiding and viola I had backed up some items but not nearly enough. I spent the rest of this week finding my past life’s work and adding it to the new MAC and gasp! backing up! I long for the days when I used paper to write everything down and my pictures were stored on a CD when I went to the local Kodak office. Now I want to summarize the main reasons I plan on coming back to paper before I put solely my life’s work back into technology:
-
It doesn’t crash. Seems obvious when you see it written out like that, but this is a really big one for me. So, paper wins.
-
It’s ‘always on’, and I don’t need to be connected. The problem with managing your life online comes when you’re offline. I now use my Filofax calendaring and note system to manage my whole life, not just my online life, and being able to have my Filofax with me on holiday, or on a plane, or wherever, is very important.
-
It’s instantaneous. I always found scheduling events a complete pain on the Palm or iCal — constantly tapping back and forward between days, and never able to see enough information on the screen at once. Online systems are marginally better, but there’s still too much mucking about required for my liking. With a paper system, you can flip back and forward as much as you like.
-
It’s freeform. Even though it’s important to keep your paper-based system structured to a certain extent, I love having the ability to grab my Filofax and scribble a phone number or some notes on whatever page is to hand. No other system I’ve ever used has offered this flexibility, and I couldn’t live without it now that I’ve got it.
Now back to saving this post and backing up before I hear the click ..click …click sound of the MAC again! Hopefully I will never see a file folder with a question mark again!
Moi xoxo
