This Phat is Good For You!
September 30, 2008
The perfume market is just flooded and flooded with fragrances endorsed by celebrities. At this point, its overwhelming and they all look and smell alike. However, when I keep going back to purchase a third or fourth bottle I know I got myself a keeper! Urban is not the term one would first think of when they think of me, but since I am open minded, I prefer Urban Glam and Kimora Lee Simmon’s Baby Phat line brings out my inner sex kitten. I received her “Golden Goddess” fragrance as a gift set Christmas 2006 and that was my favorite gift under the tree! One squirt and I envisioned a luxurious scent of bubbling champagne intermingled with an intoxicating floral bouquet. Yes, all that came to mind along with sexy and glamorous! Plus, it’s not over powering. Some perfumes are so strong that you need a rhinoplasty nose job just to get rid of the scent! It’s the perfect way to indulge yourself, a friend, your lover, or make new ones! The expectant mother of two created this second fragrance inspired by her love for canary yellow diamonds. This fragrance brings luxury to a whole new level!

Can I Have A Scoop of That Goop?

“My life is good because I am not passive about it” ~Gwyneth Paltrow
When your life is as amazing as hers it’s selfish to keep all those fabulous secrets to yourself! The Academy Award winning actress has launched her own lifestyle website, Goop by Gwyneth Paltrow. While still minimal, the website includes a newsletter signup and a first person essay from Paltrow, a married mother of two, about what matters to her. It also features sections called “Make,” “Go,” “Get,” “Do,” “Be,” and “See.” In the essay she promises everything from tips on dining in London to advice from her equally fabulous friends.
Some of her juicy tips?
Make your life good. Invest in what’s real. Cook a meal for someone you love. Clean out your space. Read something beautiful. Treat yourself to something. Go to a city you’ve never been to. Learn something new. Don’t be lazy. Workout and stick with it.
Sounds like common sense to me!

“I’m Completely Obsessed With …”
September 18, 2008
Remember back in the 80’s when your life revolved around Thursday evenings. We didn’t have the luxury of a Tivo player to record The Cosby Show and who could figure out how to program the VCR? So we stayed at home. Fast forward to 2008 and I am slowly noticing a trend. Tuesdays are the new Thursday and no one wants to get together as the new show on the block, “90210″ is keeping my girlfriends glued to the screen. Since I am completely obsessed with throwing a dinner party gathering for anything, I thought having a “90210″ theme sounded like fun complete with dressing up in our favorite teen queen attire. But at Moi’s parties, drinks are for sure on the menu. Here is my version of the cocktail that I served at my last “90210″ viewing, not designed to cool things down!
The Pool House ~ Sounds soo Beverly Hills!
-2 ounces of raspberry rum
-1 ounce cranberry juice
- 1/2 ounce blue curacao
-Sugar for the rim of the glass only
- 1 orange slice
Wet the rim of the martini glass with cranberry juice and dip the rim in sugar. Pour all of the other ingredients into a cocktail server with ice. Shake, then strain into the glass. Toss in the orange slice!
90210 Playlist

Champagne Supernova, Matt Pond
Feel Like Myself Again, Brendan Benson

Remember The Milk~
September 16, 2008
In the Urban Dictionary, Milkshop is a round, circular object attached to a woman’s chest. Typically there are two attached, side by side. Babies like to feed from these. They are also quite handy for foreplay. In Moi’s dictionary, Milkshop is a very user friendly website to purchase trendy infant and children’s clothing and accessories perfect for back to school! I discovered Milkshop long before Suri Cruise was gracing the pages of US Weekly magazine complete with her Playtex baby bottle in hand and in her Pucci dress purchased from Milkshop. I know young children tend to be rather messy as in chocolate icing on my new curtains is proof and they grow up too fast, but does that mean they should be banned from all things luxe? Not if I get mine used to the good life early with an equally fabulous wardrobe as mommy from Milkshop.com. If you want to buy all the goodies that the celebs like Halle Berry and Nicole Richie buy for their kids, peruse this site and your child will be wearing Jack Rogers flats and Calypo dresses while you shopped from the comfort of your own home without calling 10 stores in LA and NYC to find the collection. You can also stock your playroom with fire engine red pedal cars and trains that will keep them busy for hours.
For the time being, I will make cupcakes …icing free!

“Three Nude Women” ~ Byun Shi Ji
I’ve been on the lookout for some new art. Something that moves me, something that inspires me, and something that is not commonly found in other art connoisseur’s homes. I spent a lengthy discussion with my close friend David Jerod Tolbert aka “Diva”, owner and founder of divaDMedia. The country of discussion was Korea. When you think of art, you don’t usually think of Korea, however, it offers just as strong attributes as its other Asian counterparts. Korean art possesses several distinguishing characteristics that is easily recognizable. For one, it respects nature and the human form. Second, it offers quiet and subdued colors whether in its paintings or ceramics and pottery. My next art purchase check will be made payable to Kim IL- Hwa, a Korean artist represented by DMart. I enjoy how Kim’s paintings offer humor along with bold exaggerations. I admire the painting by Kim titled “A Deep Forest”. I notice a sense of quiet harmony, meaning that there is no excess, the right materials being selected in scale with the surroundings. Also, her constant use of the lotus flower suggests a explicit lesbian imagery. For more of her work and images click here~

L Word turning Japanese?
September 5, 2008
While we wait for the sixth and final season of The L Word to drop here in the U.S. of A., actress Katherine Moennig has been making her presence known for the series overseas. Here, Kate promotes the August release of Season 3 on DVD in Tokyo and answering questions about the show and doing press releases. After Season 6, L Word creator Ilene Chaiken is supposed to create a spin-off for one of the L Word’s main characters. Could Shane, the girl-crazy seductress Kate plays, be the chosen one? Stay tuned!
P.S. If your lucky to be roaming free in Tokyo, visit the local Tsutaya (think Japanese version of Blockbuster) to purchase past seasons and rent the series.
If the cashier asks you, “Lesbodeska?” then proudly say, “Hait, okki lesbodes!” or “Yes, I’m a big lesbian!”

Welcome to Laundry Camp
September 3, 2008
This post is dedicated to my *work husband* Coy Epley. He hates laundry but its my favorite chore. Perhaps because I am touching clothes or perhaps because I have trust issues with dry cleaners and cleaning services. Over the years, I have picked up some dandy tips and tricks that even your dry cleaners wouldn’t want you to know. I cab be picky over my laundry because I have some really nice clothes and bed linens and get frustrated when my items would come back from the dry cleaners damaged and not smelling clean. I thought there had to be a better way to care for my hard earned things! Here are a few tips I learned to keep your clothing and linens fresh and long lasting:
~ Skip the commercial bleach. It is evil and eats away at the fabric. It is also what makes your winter whites turn yellow over time. To brighten your light fabrics, soak them in hot water using Tide liquid soap and a cup of white vinegar.
~Hot water wash. Don’t be frightened to use the hot water cycle on your washer. It’s really the only way to get your whites and cotton bed sheets lily clean. If I notice a stain right away I use Tide spot removal and boiling hot water straight from my tea kettle before tossing them in the washer. On the flip side, dry your items on the cool setting on your dryer as the hot setting will break down the elastic in your garments and bed sheets.
~Wrinkles are not cute. Once the dry cycle ends, fold your items right away. This trick I only do if I got house guests staying in the guest room, I will iron my bed linens to achieve that hotel-style smooth look while the sheets are slight damp. If you don’t own an iron, put them on your bed and spritz with wrinkle removal which will do the same thing.
~ D.I.Y. Dry clean only labels is a protection device from the manufacturers like *Keep away from children* labels. You can hand wash anything such as silk, cashmere, and polyester. I still use Wool Lite because if it’s not broke, why fix it?
~ Squeeze never twist. If you hand wash your items, roll them in a towel don’t ever wring! This is common sense.
Laundry is a chore that is loathed by most, but I enjoy doing it myself and not having to be restricted to dry cleaning hours in order to pick up my cocktail dress before my next event. My staples are Tide Liquid Cleaner and Spot Removal which doesn’t ruin my clothes or irritate my skin and plain old hot water! I also painted my laundry room Malibu Barbie Pink with stripes so I could stay happy as I fold. Every little bit helps!
